Oct 12 2025 bitcoin

The Bitcoin Core team has released version 30.0 , a major update focused on performance and reliability. The new version introduces faster wallet indexing, expanded OP_RETURN capacity, and several backend improvements without changing Bitcoin’s consensus rules. Key Enhancements Version 30.0 improves wallet data handling, accelerates transaction lookups, and optimizes memory usage for node operators. The expanded OP_RETURN limit allows larger metadata storage, supporting developers who rely on on-chain data features. Backward Compatibility and Security The release remains fully compatible with earlier versions. Node operators can upgrade at any time to benefit from higher stability, updated RPC tools, and hardened security measures. All binaries are signed and available through bitcoincore.org and GitHub. Ongoing Development Developers describe 30.0 as an incremental upgrade that strengthens Bitcoin’s infrastructure while keeping the protocol stable. Work has already begun on version 31.0 , expected to add new peer-to-peer and UTXO management features in 2026.
